Our Mission
Our goal is to provide native plants from the ecoregions of the Alleghenies. This area corresponds with the areas designated 60, 61, 62, 69, & 70 on the map to the right. (the map source is here: https://dmap-prod-oms-edc.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/ORD/Ecoregions/us/Eco_Level_III_US.pdf
Some plants are hard to acquire within this region, but all are sourced within or as close to this region as possible. Some medicinal or food plants may be added and some other garden items like bird houses, but the focus is always the native plants.
Where it started
In the late 1990’s, the owner returned home to western PA after a stint in the US Navy and a few odd jobs and began growing trees as a hobby. Over time, the hobby grew and expanded to native plants that grew under the trees too.
Over the years, there were successes and failures. There were droughts and late frosts and the ever present deer. But the successes outnumbered the failures and the scale of the adventure grew…until now it it becoming a business.
Our Model
For the foreseeable future, sales will be at events such as fam markes, flea markets, etc. Plants are grown from seed purchased or collected, cuttings from mother plants, and some are purchased wholesale and grown to a larger size.
